Jacob "Jake" Englehart
Jacob "Jake" Englehart was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1847. He was a shrewd businessman who started his first job at the age of thirteen in a New York oil firm. Jake came to Petrolia in the 1870s and opened the Silver Star Refinery which became one of the largest refineries in Canada. Jake was a colourful figure in the Petrolia area, as well as one of the most eligible bachelors of that time.

Learn how Jake would build a beautiful home for his new bride, and how it would later become Petrolia's hospital. Learn of the tragedy of his wife's death, his business successes and unfortunate losses. Learn of his different occupations, especially as the Chairman of the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario railway. Learn of Jake's end days alone in a hotel in Toronto, Ontario.
