Wyoming, ON – Education is the key to protecting children and youth from sexual abuse and assault according to The Sexual Assault Survivors' Centre. The organization is offering the FREE program, "Knowledge is Power" at four Lambton County libraries. This is a non-threatening educational resource for children, parents and educators, featuring a resource puzzle presentation and question and answer period.
"We provide children with knowledge in regards to boundaries, safety awareness, and healthy self-esteem," says program facilitator, Helena Esteves, from the Sexual Assualt Survivors' Centre. "Telling children to not talk to strangers or telling youth to dress appropriately is not enough."
This program is available for children, ages 6-12, as well as parents on
- Friday, May 8, 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Alvinston Library (519 898-2921)
- Monday, May 11, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Corunna Library (519 862-1132)
- Saturday, May 23, 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Mallroad Library (519 542-2580)
The program is also available for youth, ages 12 and up, parents and educators on
