Celebrating The 40th Anniversary of Man Landing on the Moon
Sarnia, ON – To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Neal Armstrong's words, "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed", the Sarnia Library will show the documentary, “To the Moon” on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Library Theatre. Admission is free.
“To the Moon” covers the history of the manned space program from the early years of the Mercury program to Eugene Cernan setting the last foot on the moon. It explains just how hard it was to send people to the moon and how NASA accomplished this on July 20, 1969. The primary focus is the Apollo 8’s first manned mission to the moon and Apollo 11’s first manned landing on the moon. It features interviews with astronauts such as Jim Lovell, Tom Stafford, Eugene Cernan, Buzz Aldrin, David Scott, and Wally Schirra.
