Sarnia, ON – Education is the key to protecting children and youth from sexual abuse and assault according to The Sexual Assault Survivors' Centre. The organization will be offering the FREE program, "Knowledge is Power" at the Sarnia Library on Thursday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m., for children ages 8-12 and their parents. This is a non-threatening educational resource which features a resource puzzle presentation and question and answer period. Pre-registration is required.
"We provide children with knowledge in regards to boundaries, safety awareness, and healthy self-esteem," says program facilitator, Helena Esteves, from the Sexual Assualt Survivors' Centre. "Telling children to not talk to strangers or telling youth to dress appropriately is not enough."
