Corunna, ON – Corunna Ontario based sculptor, Jeffrey Rafuse, will launch his new exhibition Intersection at the Corunna Library. The Intersection Stone Sculpture Exhibition will open October 1st, and run till November 30th, and can be viewed during regular library hours.
Rafuse, who began exhibiting his work in Sarnia during Artwalk 2004, prides himself on capturing the climate of the times and in a very fresh perspective. Intersection brings mostly abstract works together, combined with contemporary native spirit sculptures.
“The idea of two directions, two sides, two opinions seemed to be the commonality from one piece to the next, and that’s where the intersection concept worked in a strong and versatile way”, states Rafuse. "It's going to work much like a library, expressing multi subject issues and comparable to many roads of knowledge connecting."
The two outstanding sculptures that are dedicated works are “14 Feathers”, A Spiritual Graduation of 14 Women whose lives were unjustly ended while studying to become engineers at Ecole Politechnique in Montreal, and “Spirit of Wisdom and Courage”, The Voice of Dudley George.
“My Dudley George sculpture is probably the strongest statement in this show”, says Rafuse. “What an intersection the Stoney Point land dispute became."
