Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Libraries are reminding students to “get carded @ your library”, the most important Back to School item this fall. These FREE library cards allow you to access books, magazines, online databases, online reference help, DVDs, CDs and more! To register bring your identification to any branch library with your name and current address. Children in grade 8 or under require the signature of a parent or guardian.
Lambton County Library's web site, at www.lclmg.org, features many online research and reference databases for all levels of education. These online encyclopedias, magazines, and books include citation information and can be used for projects and reference papers. Included are Britannica Online, Kids InfoBits, Today's Science, Student Resource Centre Canadian Edition, Canadian Points of View, and many more. askON, a real-time chat information service offering immediate, interactive and knowledgeable research and reference help, is available on-line, for highschool and post-secondary students after September 8, 2009. A library card is needed to access all of these databases. Some databases are also offered in French.
For live-homework help, access ask a teacher, a free online tutoring program sponsored by the Ministry of Ontario and the Independent Learning Centre. A link for this service is available at www.lclmg.org and does not require a library card to access. This program offers homework help in English, Research, Math and Science for grades 9-12, live, anonymous and online. SOS DEVOIRS is available for help in French.
