Lambton County Library Calendar of Events for May 2010

Lambton County Library Calendar of Events for May 2010

Wyoming, ON – The Need to Read Festival celebrations get underway in Lambton County during the first two weeks of May.    Be on the lookout for "newspaper-wrapped" books (over 100 adult and children's) hidden throughout Sarnia-Lambton with the Need to Read label on them.  If you find one…it's yours!   Other celebration events include:

·         Free Comic Book Day! Saturday, May 1.   Come into a local branch library on May 1st and receive your free comic book supplied by Future Pastimes in Sarnia.

·         GenreCon a literary convention featuring several notable editors and authors, returns to the Sarnia Library on Saturday, May 15.   Discussion panels take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the following panelists:  science fiction author and editor Eric Choi; mystery authors Pat Brown, Dennis Collins and W.S. Gager, horror author Suzanne Church and author and writing instructor Jeff DeLuzio. There will be a meet and greet reception from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  There will also be a film program in the Library Theatre.  Seating is limited; please contact the Reference Department at 519 337-3291 to reserve your seat.

New preschool sessions begin the week of May 10 at most Lambton libraries.  Tales for Tots is a thirty-minute program designed for children ages one and two and their caregivers. Story Hour is a one-hour program for the three to five year old. Included are songs, stories, fingerplays, activities, and crafts developed to stimulate and create an early interest in reading. Sessions are generally six-weeks in length.   Please contact these libraries for more information.

Please PRE-REGISTER for all programs except those specified as a “DROP-IN” by contacting the individual library. Our programs are FREE unless otherwise noted. Visit www.lclmg.org for further details.

All Lambton County Library branches are closed on Sunday, May 23 and Monday, May 24.
