It's going to be a summer of travelling to exotic lands and exploring tropical environments with Lambton County Library's 2010 Summer Reading Program. All programs run from July 1 to August 14.
It’s a jungle out there or at least in libraries this summer. This year’s TD theme is “Destination Jungle” and children are invited to embark on an adventure of discovery of faraway places through reading! Beginning July 1, children 0-12 can pick up a crocodile passport from their local library to record their books read and help their branch library adopt a tiger, orangutan or elephant from the World Wildlife Fund. Participation prizes include a pencil, tattoo, posters, stickers and bookmark. Many of our branches are also offering "Activity Days" throughout the summer.
Tweens, ages 9-12, are also encouraged to participate in the contest "Jungle I.D." which features close-up photographs of Jungle Animals. Each week 4 new animals will be posted at www.lclmg.org . Tweens can identify the mystery animals and fill out a ballot at their library with their guesses, or email them to greer.macdonell@county-lambton.on.ca. Ballots will be placed in a draw for the grand prize of a Digital Camera.
Teens, ages 12-18, can participate in the Teen Survivor Program which runs from July 5 to August 8. Ten books have been selected. Readers can vote for their favourite titles throughout the summer for a chance to win a prize, including the grand prize of a Sony eBook Reader. Books are available at Lambton County Library.
