Sarnia, ON – To commemorate the anniversary of Neal Armstrong's words, "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed", the Sarnia Library will show the movie, “For All Mankind” on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the Library Theatre. Admission is free.
“For All Mankind” uses over 80 hours of actual NASA film to recreate what it was like for the astronauts to travel to and land on the Moon. It starts with John F.Kennedy's words: "We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy but because they are hard." It also features the voices of the astronauts such as Apollo 13's commander Jim Lovell, artist Alan Bean, joker Pete Conrad, media guy Eugene Cernan, second man on the moon Buzz Aldrin and geologist and US Senator Harrison Schmitt who actually travelled to the Moon.
