Sarnia,
ON – The
Sarnia Library is presenting three short films that document various aspects of
World War II at the Library Theatre on Wednesday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m.
·
Ebbtide
July to September 1942 - War production and the bombing
campaign begin the lowlight of the period being the attack on Dieppe;
·
Turn of
the Tide October 1942 to July 1943 - Covers how the war turned for the Western Allies at the battles for Guadalcanal
and El Alamein; and
·
Road to
Ortona July 1943 to January 1944 - Ortona was Canada's toughest street fight with the troops going from
building to building and then room to room.
The three 30 minute films
were created by the National Film Board from over 16 million feet of film shot
by Canadian, British, American, German and Russian cameramen during the war. The films will be followed by a discussion. “This
is an opportunity to share information and learn something different about
World War Two,” said Jeffrey Beeler, Reference Librarian.
Admission is free;
however, the library will accept donations of canned goods and other non
perishable items for the Inn of the Good
