Sarnia, ON – How are today's
standards for beauty affecting young girls? Nicole Clark, a documentary, filmmaker
and former Elite International fashion model, will be screening her film Cover Girl Culture: Awakening the Media
Generation at the Sarnia Library Theatre, on Wednesday, December 29 at 1:30
p.m. Clark will also host a Q & A
period, along with Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley, after the film. Everyone is invited to this FREE educational
event, particularly tweens, teens and their parents. Donations to the library are welcome.
Created to
help bring positive change in the media, Cover
Girl Culture looks at how sexual advertising, fashion standards, and
celebrities influence teens and young women.
The film also strives to educate young women to understand the messages
they are consuming, to fight back and embrace themselves as they are. For more information about the film, go to
www.covergirlculture.com.
Clark has
been writing and creating material to empower children and teens for several
years. Her previous film work includes working as UPM on the acclaimed
documentary film Spirit of the Marathon.
She is also the author of the children's
books, "The Oceans of Emotions" and "Adventures in
Dreamtime". She will release her
next DVD in 2011 – part 2 in the Cover Girl Culture series.
