Wyoming, ON – Wireless
Internet is now available at most Lambton County libraries from 8:30 a.m. to
9:00 p.m. Bring your laptop or PDA
(hand-held device) into wireless accessible libraries and connect to the
Internet for FREE! This technology is currently not available in
the Alvinston and Florence libraries.
To
connect, users will need an 802.11a, b or g complaint wireless device installed
or a laptop with built-in wireless capability.
Access is not limited to the fixed desktop computer areas of the library
but can be used at almost every spot in the library. No special user names or passwords are
required.
“The
benefits of using wireless rather than the library computers include not having
to book computer time, no time limits and files can be downloaded and saved on
their own device, “says Carol Gardiner, Lambton County Library’s Branch
Services Manager.
Although
the wireless network is available to all, users must abide by the Library’s
Internet Access Policy prohibiting abuse and illegal activity while using the
Internet within the library. A copy of
the policy is available at the library or at the library’s website at
www.lclmg.org.
