Lambton County Library Calendar of Events for July 2011

Lambton County Library Calendar of Events for July 2011

Wyoming, ON –  It's going to be a blue summer at Lambton County libraries.  Blue because 70% of the earth is water and summer is a great time to celebrate with lots of swimming, snorkeling, fishing, canoeing and more!  Programs for all ages run from July 1st to August 14.

Splash, Celebrate Summer is the theme of the TD Summer Reading Program available for children ages 0-12.   Beginning July 2, children can pick up a reading passport from their local library to record their personal weekly reading goals and receive participation prizes.  Many of our branches are also offering "SRP (Summer Reading Program) Activity Days" throughout the summer.  These events are listed below.

Tweens, ages 9-12, are also encouraged to participate in the contest "Deep Sea I.D." which features the nature of the sea in an uncommon perspective.  Each week 4 new eyeball benders will be posted at www.lclmg.org .  Tweens can help identify the mystery photos and fill out a ballot at their library with their guesses, or email them to greer.macdonell@county-lambton.on.ca.  All ballots will be placed in a draw for some great prizes.

Teens, ages 12-18, can participate in the Teen Survivor Program, for a chance to win the grand prize of an Sony eReader.  Readers can vote weekly for their favourite title, from ten books, until only one remains.  Books are available at Lambton County Library.

Don’t miss the hilarious antics of professional comedian and juggler, Craig Douglas, coming to the four Lambton County libraries this summer.  On Wednesday, July 6, Craig will be at the Sarnia Library, at 10:00 a.m. and the Brigden Library at 2:00 p.m.    On Thursday, July 7, he will be at the Sombra Library at 10:00 a.m. and at the Wyoming Library at 2:00 p.m.  Admission at the Sarnia Library is $1.00 and tickets must be pre-purchased.    A donation, to offset costs, is appreciated at the other locations.

Please PRE-REGISTER for all programs except those specified as a “DROP-IN” by contacting the individual library. Our programs are free unless otherwise noted. Visit www.lclmg.org for further details.
