Lambton County Library Calendar of Events for November 2011

Wyoming, ON – Lambton County libraries encourage you to Explore History @ your library.   Be it local or world, fiction or nonfiction, adult or children's, history books abound at your local library.  Borrow a DVD and learn about historical topics such as ancient ship building techniques, engineering disasters, or even a history of Hollywood.  Visit the library online at www.lclmg.org and access our many e-resources including "World History in Context", "Canadian Almanac and Directory" , "War and Terrorism eCollection" and "Religion and Philosophy Collection".  Download historical e-books and audiobooks online at edownload library.  Sign up for NextRead's automatic e-mail newsletter service and receive reading suggestions for topics such as "History and Current Events" and "Historical Fiction".  A library card is needed to access all online resources and to borrow resource materials from your library.

Search your ancestry records with Ancestry library edition, accessible only through public computers in any Lambton County library. This online searching program covers the United States and the United Kingdom as well as record collections from Canada and other areas.

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Hong Kong, the Sarnia Library is presenting the short film, “Savage Christmas: Hong Kong 1941” at the Library Theatre on Wednesday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m.   Please call the Reference Department at 519 337-3291 for more information or to register.

New preschool sessions begin the week of November 7 at most Lambton libraries.  Tales for Tots is a thirty-minute program designed for children ages one and two and their caregivers. Story Hour is a one-hour program for the three to five year old. Included are songs, stories, fingerplays, activities, and crafts developed to stimulate and create an early interest in reading. Sessions are generally six-weeks in length.  French Story Hour is also offered at the Alvinston, Corunna, Petrolia and Sarnia libraries.  Please contact these libraries for more information.

Please pre-register for all programs except those specified as a “drop-in” by contacting the individual library. Our programs are free unless otherwise noted. Visit www.lclmg.org for further details.
