Lambton County Library Calendar of Events for January 2011

Wyoming, ON – Looking for ways of improving yourself this year?   Lambton County libraries are a great place to find motivating resources to help you achieve your goals.  Books, magazines, DVDs and e-resources are available in a variety of subjects including nutrition and exercise, meditation, education, business, do-it-yourself and more.

LearningExpressLibrary is an e-resource offering students and adults practice tests and exercises to help improve their reading, writing and math skills.  Also available are preparation tests for Civil Service, Firefighter, Law Enforcement and Nursing and Allied Health.  CareerCruising is an online suite of career guidance and planning tools designed for people of all ages.  Learn a new language with Byki, the fastest possible way to lock foreign words and phrases in your long term memory.   Also available at www.lclmg.org are the DIY e-resources for Chilton, Small Engine Repair, Home Improvement, Culinary Arts Collection and more.  A library card and pincode number are needed to access.

Family Literacy Day is on January 27.  Many Lambton libraries are also holding events during the week to celebrate the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family.

New preschool sessions begin the week of January 9th at most Lambton libraries.  Tales for Tots is a thirty-minute program designed for children ages three and under and their caregivers. Story Hour is a one-hour program for the three to five year old. Included are songs, stories, fingerplays, activities, and crafts developed to stimulate and create an early interest in reading. Sessions are generally six-weeks in length.  French Story Hour is also offered at the Alvinston, Corunna, Petrolia and Sarnia libraries.  Please contact these libraries for more information.

Please pre-register for all programs except those specified as a “drop-in” by contacting the individual library. Our programs are free unless otherwise noted. Visit www.lclmg.org for further details.
