Sarnia,
ON – The Sarnia
Library is presenting the movie "Treasure Planet" on Monday, January
30 at 7 p.m. in the Sarnia Library Theatre.
Admission is free.
"The film is a
futuristic updating of the classic story "Treasure Island" by Robert
Louis Stevenson and combines high technology with swashbuckling fun," says
Jeffrey Beeler, Reference Librarian.
The showing is hosted
by Trent Rogers owner of "Future Pastimes" comic book store and a
writer/director of the television series "The Comic Book Store." He will introduce the movie and provide a commentary
after it concludes. An episode of
"The Comic Book Store" written and directed by Rogers as a short will
be screened before the movie starts.
The movie features
the voices of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as Jim Hawkins, Emma Thompson, David Hyde
Pierce and Martin Short and was directed by Ron
Clements and John Musker who also made "Aladdin" and "The Little
Mermaid." Roger Ebert described it
by saying, "it has zest and humor and some lovable supporting
characters."
This movie is rated G - Suitable for all audiences.
Admission is free;
however, the library will accept donations of canned goods and other non
perishable items for the Inn of the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Please
